Songs & Stories
Original songs, innovative covers, and soulful stories from the west coast of Ireland.
Just Kieran is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from County Clare, Ireland, but with roots in London, England. His live sets weave together curated audio from sound archives, original compositions, traditional Irish folk, and vocals that are heavily influenced by the blues and soul.
As a solo artist, he has released two singles to date: Bedtime and If This Is A Man. He is currently working on his debut album, titled Sassanach. In his late teens, he was a member of the group Fionnuar, the winners of Gael Linn's Siansa competition for young traditional musicians. This garnered the group airtime on RTE radio and television, as well as a performance at Ireland's National Concert Hall. In the years since he has performed at internationally significant music festivals, such as Electric Picnic.
2026 has seen him launch The Blue Note Sessions, a live events series that brings the best songwriting talent from Ireland's rich live music scene to small venues along the west coast. The first Blue Note took place in Pot Duggan's, Ennistymon in February 2026, and saw Just Kieran take to the stage alongside Brian O'Brien and Barry Murphy of Hermitage Green.
Before beginning his musical career in earnest in 2024, he completed a doctorate in social history at the University of Oxford. This interest in the past now influences his performances and songwriting, particularly by incorporating live footage of sound archives into his set. The effect is to immerse audiences into a particular place and time, and root his performances in soundscapes and histories that are both entertaining and thought-provoking.
